A Sense for Sustainability
Sustainable materials
Our furniture products are made from sustainably sourced materials such as reclaimed or upcycled mango wood and natural kubu rattan to reduce our environmental impact. Mango wood is one of the most sustainable wood types due to its fast growth rate and byproduct of the mango tree. Not only is it a durable and versatile wood, but mango trees can be replanted after they are harvested making it a renewable resource. Additionally, many of our suppliers are now opting for water-based adhesives and finishes, instead of oil-based products, to reduce the output of harmful chemicals.
Artisan-crafted textiles
Our textiles, locally designed in Woodstock, are handcrafted by global artisan partners using traditional techniques, such as hand-weaving, which uses less energy and water than machine-weaving. Renewable and biodegradable natural materials such as linen, hemp and wool are used in the making of these products. Our unique, handcrafted artisan-made textiles provide superior craftsmanship and are made to last which reduces waste and helps to preserve traditional techniques and skills.
Locally sourced upholstery
Our upholstery is bench-made by local craftsmen in North Carolina using high-quality materials. This helps to support our local economy and reduce the environmental impact of transportation. All wood used to build the frames comes from forests certified by the Sustainable Forest initiative and all foam is certified CertiPUR. The bench-built process ensures that the utmost care and precision is used with every piece that is made.
We're committed to continuous improvement in our sustainability practices. We're always looking for new ways to reduce our environmental impact. When you buy sustainable furniture, you're helping to conserve natural resources, reduce pollution, and support local businesses.
